A Mexican Standoff is a match featured in popular culture, with three or more opponents with loaded guns standing on opposite sides, unwilling to draw their guns in fear of being shot in return. The match ends when all opponents are somehow defeated. It works essentially like a duel, however the increased number of opponents makes it much more dangerous. If the opponents are few the mexican standoff often takes place as a circle or a certain poligon depending on the number of participants. This differs if there is a higher number of participants.

In The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Blondie, Tuco, and Angel Eyes face off in a mexican standoff. After they all stare each other down, Angel Eyes draws his gun, but is shot to death twice by Blondie. Tuco attempts to shoot Angel Eyes as well, but fails, as his gun was unloaded by Blondie the night before. Tuco, however, is nevertheless spared by Blondie.
